As an on-trade specialist, we work with a huge range of customers, from Michelin-starred restaurants to cocktail bars and pub groups. We shake up the sustainable status-quo, partnering with mindful producers, while pursuing a positive impact on the planet and our communities. We work with over 280 of the world’s most talented winemakers, and in addition to our core range, we also offer an ever-evolving selection of fine wines from across the globe.
Our Vivid charter was founded in 2008, and, drawing on expertise from across the business, our team works with customers, suppliers and partners to promote sustainable practices in all aspects of drinks distribution.
Carbon footprint:
Bibendum, as part of the C&C Group, is committed to reducing Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions by 35% and our Scope 3 GHG emissions by 25% by 2030 (versus FY2020). We have pledged to be a carbon-neutral business by 2050. Our emissions reduction targets are grounded in climate science and validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
ISO 14001:
Bibendum is one of the few UK drinks businesses with ISO14001 accreditation, which we were awarded in 2011. It requires opting for energy efficient, environmentally-friendly and sustainable options throughout the supply chain, from buying through to distribution.
Drinks Portfolio:
We work with some amazing producers, many of whom strive to improve their communities and reduce their impact on our planet. We regularly highlight these producers who go beyond organics and biodynamics, focusing on categories such as 'Planet', 'Place', 'People' and 'Packaging'.
Staff welfare & progression:
The Bibendum teams support C&C Group's Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) focused on Mental Wellbeing, Physical Wellbeing and Working Parents. In 2023, we will train an additional 100 Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAs) and we aim to have 1 MHFA to every 20 colleagues by 2024.
Use of renewables:
From 1 April 2021, 100% of the electricity across our main sites comes from renewable sources, covering c98% of our electricity use.
Waste management & recycling:
We are committed to reducing waste, improving recycling rates and introducing circular economy across our operations. We have committed to a 'Zero Waste to Landfill' policy. We conducted a Circular Opportunities Assessment across our business and have a focus on exploring circularity in both our manufacturing and distribution. C&C Group is a member of the UK Plastics Pact, working with industry partners to find innovative and sustainable packaging solutions.
Water management:
As part of our sustainability commitment, we are committed to reduce our water usage.
Packaging:
We work with suppliers to encourage lighter weight and alternative packaging, including a move to recycled products and less use of heavy metals and single use plastics.
Diversity & inclusivity:
We’ve established a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Advisory Group and created distinct Employee Resource Groups as the first step in creating a better workplace for everyone. Through employee engagement, bi-annual surveys and team sessions, we are working to achieve the KPI of improving 'Company-wide diversity, equity and inclusion'.
Community focused activities:
As part of the C&C Group, we have a 3-Year Partnership with the Big Issue Group, covering areas such as vendor support, mentoring, employability and marketing campaigns.
Supply chain partners:
As part of SBTi, we commit that 67% of our suppliers and customers by emissions – covering 77% of purchased goods and services emissions, 65% of upstream transportation and distribution emissions and 50% of downstream transportation and distribution emissions – will have science-based targets by 2026.
As part of the C&C Group, we report against monthly ESG KPIs to measure progress in our Sustainability journey. C&C's commitment to Science Based Targets ensures that we have a 4% year-on-year reduction target for Scope 1 and 2 emissions, and a 3% year-on-year reduction target for Scope 3 emissions. Progress against C&C's sustainability targets is disclosed annually through our CDP Climate Change and Water submissions and in our Annual Responsibility Report, which is publicly available on our website.
