WEBSITE

Business

González Byass is a historic, family-owned wine and spirits producer founded in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, in 1835. With nearly two centuries of expertise, we have expanded to include 14 wineries and 3 distilleries across Spain, Chile, and Mexico, cultivating almost 2,000 hectares of vineyards. Our portfolio spans iconic names like Tío Pepe, Beronia, Vilarnau, Viñas del Vero, and more. Guided by a blend of tradition and innovation, we are present in over 100 countries and committed to crafting wines and spirits of exceptional quality while respecting our people, our land, and our legacy.

Here in the UK, González Byass UK acts as both the importer for our family-owned brands and the distributor for a carefully curated portfolio of agency partners. With a shared commitment to sustainability and excellence, we bring a wide range of premium wines and spirits to the UK market, backed by the values of the global González Byass family.

ACTIONS AND GOALS

At González Byass, sustainability is not a strategy—it is our legacy. With the launch of our People+Planet plan, we’ve embedded environmental and social responsibility into every part of our operation.

ACTIONS

· Carbon Footprint & Energy: We aim to cut CO₂ emissions by 55% by 2030 (vs. 2019). In 2024, we reduced Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 22% year-on-year. 53% of our energy is from renewable sources,

and 87% of electricity is green. Projects include green hydrogen at Viñas del Vero and Spain’s first agrivoltaic energy system in Castilla-La Mancha.

· Circular Economy & Packaging: We maintain a 99% waste recovery rate. Packaging improvements include lightweight bottles (90% of wines), sustainable closures, recycled materials, and pilots for reusable bottles through the Rebo2Vino project.

· Water Stewardship: Efficient irrigation systems, smart sensors, and agri-climate monitoring have enabled an 11.8% year-on-year reduction in water use. Our Neyen winery has achieved Code Blue water certification.

· Biodiversity & Agriculture: Through initiatives like VIDas and Ángel de Viñas, we protect old vineyards, support organic/biodynamic farming, and enhance vineyard ecosystems. Nesting boxes, pollinator habitats, and biodiversity corridors are actively developed.

· Sustainable Wine Tourism: Our wine tourism experiences—from vineyard biodiversity trails to eco-certified cellar visits—are designed to promote environmental awareness while celebrating the heritage and culture of winemaking.

· People & Governance: We support 962 employees across 6 countries with wellbeing programs like psychological support (Ifeel), 15,000+ hours of training, and inclusion policies. We hold ISO 45001 (health & safety) and maintain strong governance through a comprehensive Code of Conduct and Ethics Channel.

· Supply Chain & Community: 83% of our suppliers are rated sustainable. We engage local communities through events, cultural sponsorships, and the González Byass Foundation. We also lead ambitious R&D&I projects—from autonomous electric tractors and carbon capture, to hydrogen fuel and digital vineyard monitoring—ensuring sustainability and innovation are deeply interwoven.

GOALS

Our roadmap to 2030 includes:

· Achieving 100% sustainable vineyard management.

· Scaling up circular economy solutions across all production.

· Continuing CO₂ reductions and renewable energy deployment.

· Advancing regenerative viticulture and biodiversity enhancement.

· Deepening social impact in the communities we operate.

Our efforts are independently validated through certifications including ISO 14001, ISO 45001, BRC, IFS, LEED, Fair for Life, and organic/biodynamic accreditations across multiple sites.
